Gotham Knights TV show unrelated to Gotham Knights video game, developer says

The Gotham Knights is a series of two video games that will be released over the next year. One video game will be released in the second half of 2022, and the other is a TV series that will air in early 2023. Both show a group coming together to combat crime in Gotham after Batman’s death.

These two are not related to one another, despite having a similar name, an overarching idea, and a very close launch window. Huh.

Message from The Belfry: The #GothamKnights video game and the upcoming TV series of the same title are two separate projects that have no connection,” Warner Bros. Montreal, the developer of Batman Arkham Oranges, tweeted. “We are eager to show you the action of our Gotham Knights.

So… So…

Only a few months remain before the game version of Gotham Knights will be released (which, in case it was not obvious, will only be available on current-gen consoles). More and more details have been revealed about the game’s release, including the unexpected Mystic Leap ability by Red Hood.

The game’s developers updated Barbara Gordon’s description on their Gotham Knights website in order to better reflect her rehabilitation. It was in response to criticisms from the community that Warner Bros. Montreal was falling into “trope territory” by having a character ‘overcome their disability’ through heroic training and gritty determination.

Recent reports have indicated that Gotham Knights’ Russian-language version has been cancelled. This is believed to be due to “political fallout” from the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
