Sony is reportedly working on a Days Gone movie

Days Gone will reportedly be the next PlayStation franchise to be adapted into a feature film.

A report by Deadline that Sony’s PlayStation Productions division is working on the Days Gone movie project with Oscar-nominated writer Sheldon Turner, who wrote Up in the Air and is credited with the story for X-Men: First Class.

Scottish actor Sam Heughan, known for his performances on Outlander and Bloodshot The actor is said to be in the process of being considered for the part of Deacon St. John, with the script rumored to be “a love ballad to motorcycle movies”.

The Bend Studio game takes place in the Pacific Northwest after a global pandemic. The game is about a former member of the motorcycle club Deacon St. John as the character fights for survival against the mutated, prey-seeking human beings in the quest to locate his missing companion.

The adaptation for the big screen is likely to be a hit with those who love Days Gone. Days Gone game, who have had many reasons to believe that Sony was all but abandoning the game.

The year before, a report from Bloomberg report initially suggested that PlayStation had pulled out of plans to develop a sequel following which the lead designers of the game quit the company.

Sony hasn’t released figures on sales of Days Gone (although its director says it sold about 10,000 units) however, the scores on Metacritic of just 71 is likely to have been unsatisfactory for the company, which is used to first-party films receiving near-unanimous reviews.

In a public appearance last year Days Gone’s Director Jeff Ross, who left Bend Studio in 2020 after more than 20 years at the studio, admitted that he was at some moment working on the Days Gone 2 pitch.

Ross later criticized Sony for the alleged fact that it made Bend Studio “feel like it was a big disappointment”.

“At the time I left Sony, Days Gone had been out for a year and a half (and a month), and sold over 8 million copies,” the director wrote. “It’s been able to make more sales than that, then more than a million games on Steam. The local studio’s management has was always a source of frustration for us. that it was a huge disappointment.”

Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that Bend Studio is working on a brand new IP in addition to “building on the open-world system they created using Days Gone”.
