HELLDIVERS Beginner’s Guide to Weapons

Again, it is my job to teach new recruits. This guide will provide you with some basic information about standard weapons (Primary Waepons), that robots did not teach.

How do you get there?

What are the standard weapons?

  • A standard weapon will always be your first weapon of choice. You can also call this type of weapon primary weapons, secondary weapons, or starting weapons.
  • You can use one-handed weapons to carry heavy objects, and to bring down heavier items such as Double Freedom, Tanto, or Pistols.

When should you use standard weapons?

  • PDW (Personal Defend Weapon), is the starting weapon against small to medium threats. Higher threats should be considered for more firepower.

When should you reload?

  • Standard weapons will throw out all bullets in the clip while reloading (except Punisher or Constitution, which have their own reload mechanisms). If there is only one round in your gun when you reload, this 1 round will remain and be fired with next clip.
  • In this game, there are two ways to reload: empty reload or tactical reload. If your gun contains more than one round, tactical reload is possible. Reloading your gun after reloading can cause your reload to take longer than it does for tactical reload. Helldivers’ logistic staff sure added some special “low ammo” rounds near the ends of the clips to serve a purpose. These rounds will sound and appear different from normal rounds and signal when you need reload.
  • Laser weapons are the last thing I forgot. They will overheat if their heat exceeds 100%. Like other weapons, laser weapons also have a “low ammo” indicator. This is the steam/smoke that they emit when their heat exceeds 50%. It will sound a warning and then emit more steam/smoke if the gun reaches 80% heat.

How do you use standard weapons?

  • The stupid robot showed you how to use those guns, aim, fire, and operate them.
  • With melee aiming, you can aim instantly at a target in front of you and fire instantly.

Pistols

P-2 Peacemaker

Description:

  • Sidearm that is suitable for small to medium threats and has a quick reload. The accuracy of this gun is high, but it will drop as you fire rapidly. It is best to fire in short bursts to keep high accuracy.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are not affected by Bad Crowd Control or Single Target Normal. Can handle Hounds and moderate threat quickly, but won’t do much for Butchers (about two clips per Butcher).
  • Normal Single Target and Bad Crowd Protection against Bugs. Although I can deal with Patrols quickly, it is not very effective against medium threats. However, I don’t recommend Peacemaker against Brood Commanders as it would require a lot of ammunition to kill some of them.
  • Bad single target and bad crowd control against Illuminates. It’s kinda awful, but it is still fairly decent. The short-range means that it cannot kill Hunters effectively, and spreads meaning that it will be more difficult to deal damage to Tripods/Striders. Outcasts are the only place this little boy shines.

P-6 Gunslinger

Description:

  • It’s time to be a cowboy. Cool reload animation, 6 shots per clip. No tactical reload. High damage shots with pin-point accuracy. Fast fire rates allow for a greater DPS than other pistols.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are easily defeated by a single target and normal crowd control. One clip can kill a Butcher, Hulk, or Warlord. This is an instant kill for the medium threat.
  • Bugs are easily controlled by normal crowd control and single target. Two shots are enough to kill a Shadow/Stalker, but it is possible to overkill smaller threats and cause Brood Commanders to die in a matter of seconds.
  • Good single target and normal crowd control against Illuminates. Even Striders can deal decent damage to Illusionists/Council members with a single shot.

FLAM-24 Pyro

Description:

  • Mini flamer have a shorter range and less damage. They also produce smaller fire puddles. There is no tactical reload. Even though they do less damage than the bigger brother’s fire-puddles, enemies will still attempt to avoid these cute little fire puddles.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are a normal single target and good crowd control. This can also kill Warlords with Fire Damage. However, a decent single target with fire damages and crowd control fire pails to deal with low to high (except for IFVs) threats.
  • A good crowd control and normal single target against bugs. The gun can also be used to kill Behemoths by inflicting fire damage on them. Good crowd control with fire puddles and a decent single target against patrols.
  • Normal single target and good crowd control against Illuminates Nice gun to use, good single target, and good crowd control against a horde of Tripods/Striders/Outcasts.

PLAS-3 Singe

Description:

  • Similar to small PLAS-1 Scorchers, Singe is slightly better than un-upgraded Scorcher (based on Wikipedia), with slightly more damage per shot and 33% faster rate fire.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. This little boy is able to kill Warlords. He also has a single target ability. Crowd control abilities are good.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Be careful when firing this little boy if there are jumpers in your mission. They may jump up to you when you fire the gun and cause self-damage.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. It is a good weapon against the Illuminates.

Assault Rifles (AR)

AR-19 Freedom

Description:

  • The “low ammo” rounds are a beginner-friendly gun. They arrive sooner than other AR guns and are intended to teach new recruits how tactical reloading works and ammo management. This gun is good at dealing with medium threat, but not great overall. This gun can only be used as a learning tool by new people. However, a veteran could use it to fight off enemies. Another positive aspect of the gun is its bayonet that allows for advanced techniques.

Summary:

  • Normal Crowd Control and Single Target Normal against Cyborgs. It is a Decent Patrol Killer, which is pretty bad against Butcher Hordes due to its lower DPS than other ARs.
  • Normal Single Target and Normal Crowd Control for Bugs. The Brood Commander is a good patrol killer. They can charge to your location without slowing down.
  • Normal Crowd Control and Single Target Normal against Illuminates It’s pretty good against most enemies, but its DPS makes them just a little bit better.

AR-22C Patriot

Description:

  • This gun is a better version of Liberator. It has a faster fire rate and slightly higher accuracy. However, it does have fewer off-center damages. To improve ammo efficiency and increase damage output, controlled bursts of ammunition are preferred.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. With only half of a clip you can get rid of a pack Hounds that are running towards you. You can also dump the entire clip on Hulk and Butcher, they will die shortly after you make a low ammo sound.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Its rapid fire rate makes it easier to hit medium- to long-range targets sooner. However, due to its high DPS, it can quickly melt any threat within close range.
  • Excellent Single Target and Normal Crowd Control against Illuminates. Patriot’s performance is impacted by the fact that Striders/Tripods (I haven’t tried Tripods yet), don’t take any damage to their feet, which makes Patriot perform worse than Liberator.

Justice

Description:

  • After breeding Breaker with Liberator, this gun will be yours. High caliber rounds pack more punch and penetrate through enemies easier, but you will have a lower fire rate, magazine, and poor accuracy after only a few rounds. Excellent weapons that can be used against all types of enemy (except heavy armors).

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are normally single-target and good crowd control. It is super efficient against Butchers and can do the same to Breaker.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Cool and effective bug-killing gun.
  • Normal Single Target and Normal Crowd Protection against Illuminates A smaller clip size can mean more frequent reloads and it can sometimes prove fatal if you are surrounded by impassible shielded enemies (Tripods/Striders).

AR-14D Paragon

Description:

  • It’s time to end the Geneva Protocol, boys. You can get justice with semi-auto or toxic rounds. However, these bullets do not cause any damage to enemies and slow them down. This gun is dangerous at any distance due to its high accuracy and DPS. This gun has a stupid low ammo indicator. They can only be activated if there are 2 or fewer rounds in the clip. With burst fire upgrade making it fire in bursts 3 times per burst, you don’t know exactly how many shots you fired per burst. On PC, there is a Paragon fire method called half-tap that allows you to fire less than 3 shots per burst. Your best tactical reload indicator? Look at your gun and not hear your gun

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. Butchers can be bullet sponges. Support your team by using a slow effect instead of trying to kill them.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Similar to Cyborgs Butchers. Try to slow down the effect of Brood commanders (note: Paragon cannot pierce armors so don’t shoot) and only kill them when they are near.
  • Normal Crowd Control and Single Target Protection against Illuminates. It’s pretty bad for Crowd, because Paragon will have to shoot more than Bugs or Cyborgs due to shields. Robots don’t take slow effect, Illusionists/Council members are just staying put and not moving.

LMG (Just 1 gun lol)

MG-105 Stalwart

Description:

  • Patriot has a larger clip and greater accuracy. Stalwart is one gun that becomes more accurate the longer it’s fired. The un-upgraded clipsize Stalwart will fire the same number of rounds as Patriot’s, but the Stalwart clip size upgrade will give you twice the rounds. Tactical reload takes about 0.5 seconds faster than empty reload.

Summary:

  • Normal Single Target and normal Crowd Control are not effective against Cyborgs. You will need to fire a few rounds before you can achieve good long-range accuracy.
  • Normal Crowd Control and Single Target Normal Bug Control. Similar to the Cyborgs but with a slower effect. Because those Bugs are faster the lower their HP, you will need to support your Brood Commander in killing them.
  • Excellent Single Target and Normal Crowd Control against Illuminates. You won’t need to reload if you have a steady fire. The good accuracy allows you to hit Striders/Tripods center with ease.

Shotguns

SG225 Breaker

Description:

  • I have a Punisher, a Double Freedom, ugh Breaker (yeah, that was PPAP, what can I do?). This is my guide. Breaker is the middle of Punisher, Double Freedom and Double Freedom. It has medium range, medium spread and a high fire rate. When it comes to dealing with Butcher Hordes efficiently and quickly, Breaker is the most well-known. This is a handy way to close to medium range combat with enemies of light and medium armor.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. You can kill patrols quickly and handle the hordes Of Butchers with ease.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Effective bug-killing is just like Justice.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. Shotguns can be used to bully Illuminates. Breaker can easily handle any threat from Illuminates.

SG-8 Punisher

Description:

  • The Sniper shotgun can be described as a combination of Precision weapons and Shotguns. Very high accuracy and decent damage against medium to heavy enemies. Advice is used to control the crowd against horde. This gun has a low rate of fire and can only reload one round at time. Constitution and Punisher are the only guns that allow you to reload by inserting each cartridge in. Tactical reload is faster than empty reload, which takes 0.4 seconds.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are a good single target and bad crowd control. While Punishers are capable of killing a single medium enemy in one shot, it is difficult to kill an entire horde with just one shot. I would recommend other guns for Butchers.
  • Normal single target and bad crowd control against bugs. 2 shots for a Stalker/Shadow. You need to aim accurately to hit all 3 small patrols in one shot. (Theoretically, it’s possible). The problem with Punisher’s insufficient AP ammunition is that Brood Commanders’ armor is very difficult to destroy.
  • Good single target and bad crowd control against Illuminates. You can dominate all Illuminates patrols. However, you are not safe from a large number of Striders/Tripods. Punisher is able to take care of Obelisks and Outcasts.

Double Freedom

Description:

  • It’s quicker than Punishers, so don’t be fooled by its fire rate. Double Freedom is the most widely spread shotgun of them all. The AC-5 Arc Shotgun can’t compare to it. It is best to shoot two shells, then run away while you reload and repeat.

Summary:

  • Normal Crowd Control and Single Target Normal against Cyborgs. Cool gun for most Patrols. Can 2 shots to a Butcher.
  • Normal Crowd Control and Single Target Normal against Bugs. Stalkers/Shadows can get too annoying. You get so mad that another gun cannot kill these annoying flies (they look more like mantis). Here’s your best gun. If they jump in front of you, just fire leads and phosphorous rounds at them. This is a greeting gift. Brood Commanders don’t kill in two shots, but will spit poison in your face if it gets too close.
  • Normal Single Target and Good Crowd control against Illuminates. The most high-risk high reward shotgun in Illuminates missions, you can choose to get close and personal with a horde of Tripods/Striders/Outcasts and enjoy the sound of burning and dead sounds or die trying, stay close to Illusionist/Council Members are not advised because they can instantly kill you with orb attack if not protected by an SH-20.

SMGs

SMG-45 Defender

Description:

  • This is the worst of all three SMGs available for Helldivers. Defender’s low fire rate and low caliber make it a poor SMG. This would result in a low DPS, which would mean that most Helldivers would consider Defender to be poor. Similar to Liberator’s SMG version.

Summary:

  • Good single target and crowd control against Cyborgs. This gun’s low fire rate makes it more difficult to reload and allows for a longer shot time. It also has the longest sustained fire of all 3 SMGs.
  • Excellent single target and normal crowd control against bugs. This gun would be difficult to use against Shadows/Stalkers. To create a mini-stun effect, your shots must hit the center mass of Brood Commanders.
  • Excellent Single Target and Normal Crowd Control against Illuminates. It’s pretty bad for Patrols. Robots are not immune to mini-stun. However, sustained fire can help with Outcasts Horde.

MP98 Knight

Description:

  • SMG version for Patriot and Defender. A Knight clip can be used to melt a Hulk/Butcher. It works the same way as Patriot. This little guy eats quite a lot of ammunition, so a Resupply Pack is recommended.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. Similar to Patriot, but you cannot stay in your comfort zone and snipe them.
  • Excellent Single Target and Normal Crowd Control for Bugs. Similar to Patriot, but with mini-stun that can slow down the effect on Brood Commanders
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. You would have a hard time killing Hunters if you had a decent, high-quality DPS.

SMG-34 Ninja

Description:

  • They must be very lazy in designing SMGs. Ninja is Justice’s SMG version. It’s a shame that Paragon wasn’t made into an SMG. Ninja is an upgraded Defender with greater damage and accuracy. It also has a higher fire rate.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are difficult to defeat with their single-target and normal crowd control. Although Defender is a little better than Defender, the gun lacks mini-stun ability. Ninja’s best use is to defend yourself from enemy escaped heavy firearms of your co-workers.
  • Normal Single Target and Normal Crowd Protection against Bugs. It’s a bit of a problem, because you won’t have as much chance to let your prey run, but your damage will be enough to kill it before they run. Brood Commanders don’t care about running away from you, and you wouldn’t mind running when a Brood Commander is “target locked” and charging you.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates Good DPS.

Precision (or Sniper, if you prefer)

Camper

Description:

  • This is a good example of how a sniper looks and operates. A pro will use this gun to perform many dances during combat moments (yes, melee dodge is like dancing). Camper can pack a powerful punch against medium-sized enemies and instantly kills them. Dum Dum is a smaller version.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are a good single target and normal crowd control. Camper is designed for single target and poor crowd control. However, Camper can penetrate medium-sized enemies that it can instakill (see my Notes in Anti-Tank Guide), killing two enemies in one shot.
  • Good single target and bad crowd control against bugs. Camper suffers a bad time killing small Patrols but only 2 shots to kill Stalkers/Shadows/Warriors/Elite and would need more than 5 shots to kill a Brood Commander (Camper can only have 8 shots per clip and 9 after tactical reload).
  • Poor Crowd Control and Single Target Killing against Illuminates. You can insta-kill medium enemies, but you must first disable their shield.

RX-1 Rail Gun

Description:

  • This is the best support gun in the game. It can stun any enemy that can be damaged with Rail Gun (even Behemoths). Low ammo and slow fire rate You can only announce “low ammo” after the last shot. Each clip can have five shots.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are a good single target and can be controlled well by the crowd. Can stun all except IFV, and can penetrate all except Warlords or IFVs.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Can stun everything, can’t penetrate Behemoths/Tanks/Impalers, a great tool to control a Brood Commander horde.
  • Normal Single Target and Bad Crowd control against Illuminates. They can’t penetrate or deal damage to the shield and they would not be able to support it, unless they kill Illusionists/Council Members. Robots are immune to stun.

M2016 Constitution

Description:

  • A decent gun. In new player’s hands, they might be like “This gun is sucky, low clip capacity, and wacky fire rate, I don’t like it”, but in pro’s hand it would be more like “stab, dance, shoot, retreat to reload, then do it again.” Veteran players love the gun with the longest melee range. It also has decent damage output and long-range melee. This gun requires a combination of melee dodging skills to get the best out of it. It is a skill that veterans have mastered, so it can be quite difficult for new players to use effectively.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are categorized as Normal/Good Single Target, Bad/Normal Crowd Control and Normal/Good Single Target. MD-99 Autoinjector allows you to stand even after being burned. It also extends your time standing and melee-dodging, which increases your survival rate in close-range combat. You should be cautious with Berserkers and Butchers. One good grab will result in you laying down and calling for help.
  • Normal single target and bad/normal crowd control against bugs. Stalker/Shadow: Shoot -> Stab and Shoot. If you stab first you have more chances of getting spit on. Once you’re spit onto, melee dodge is not possible.
  • Bad single target and poor crowd control against Illuminates. Decent damage to one shot Tripods/Outcasts. One stab is sufficient to disable a shield (to preserve ammo), but you run the risk of being zapped and killed, a high-risk, medium-reward gun. To do a stab, you will need to be within close proximity of an Illusionist/Council member to perform it. Because dealing damage with only shooting is slow,

Explosive

CR-9 Suppressor

Description:

  • Comparing to Scorcher Suppressor is louder, does more AoE damage, but does less direct damage. Scorcher is more Crowd Control-oriented than Suppressor, which means that any shot that explodes close to helldivers can cause death. Heavy Armor perk (SH-32) reduces self-damage, but I have only tested it with SH-32. SH-20 and Displacement field will offer some protection against close-range shots. In close range, you can use pistols instead.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. To deal damage to Legionnaire, you can place your shells behind them. However, the blast can’t penetrate their shields. Be careful when you use Suppressor to kill Berserkers/Butchers near your teammates.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. You have a powerful Crowd Control weapon to defeat Brood Commanders, but you should be cautious when they charge towards you. Pistols can also be used to kill close-range enemies.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. Good DPS against large enemies. Would handle clustered enemies well.

PLAS-1 Scorcher

Description:

  • Scorcher is a more powerful weapon than Suppressor. It has a shorter range and lower AoE damage. However, it can inflict greater damage. Scorcher also offers a fire upgrade that allows for higher damage potential (theoretical), if you follow the theory. Scorcher can light everything within its radius of explosion and can also ignite Legionnaire by firing its shield. Scorcher is the same issue as Suppressor, but Scorcher’s AoE damage is lower. You can only be destroyed by explosive damage or burn injury. The same protection recommended as Suppressor, but Heavy Armor or SH-32 will not reduce burn damage, so they are not necessary.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. Good Crowd Control against a Horde of Butchers.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Brood Commanders can be killed faster than Suppressor if they are careful about jumpers.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. Scorcher can lighten enemies if their shield is damaged in one shot. The game checks the shield first, then does damage and then applies the effect if necessary. This allows Scorcher to kill Patrol in just one shot. Both explosive and burn damage are good Crowd Control options to Illuminates Hordes.

Laser

Unlimited powahhhh

LAS-5 Scythe

Description:

  • Similar to Liberator, this is a terrible laser weapon but a good weapon for training about the overheat function. Scythe can sustain sustained damage for quite a while if it isn’t overheated.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are a good single target weapon. It is a great single-target weapon but can take a while to kill large targets because of its low DPS. Scythe has a slow-medium speed and low DPS so it is not the best gun to use against a group.
  • Normal single target and bad crowd control against bugs. If you are a Stalker/Shadow and they have already passed the medium range, there is no way to avoid being spit upon with Scythe.
  • Poor Crowd Control and Single Target Performance against Illuminates Scythe is your best friend if you have any chance of 1v1ing an enemy in Illuminate. However, to deal with the Horde, Scythe performs very poorly.

LAS-16 Sickle

Description:

  • God, the developers just turned Patriot into a Laser Weapon. How lazy are they? (jk, great job devs). Sickle is Scythe, but in burst mode (maybe?) This is because it produces more heat per shot and has a higher DPS.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are easily defeated by Sickle’s single target and normal crowd control. Sickle’s heat output per shot is higher than other laser weapons, so it has a shorter sustained fire time. Sickle’s high DPS combined with its large center mass bonus makes it an excellent Single Target weapon.
  • A good single target and normal crowd control against bugs. A good DPS can kill Shadows/Stalkers from faraway, and a nice DPS can kill Brood Commander quickly while it is in its berserk condition.
  • Excellent Single target and normal crowd control against Illuminates. Sickle is not as effective against a Horde because it uses DPS to disable damage and shield. However, sustained fire can be useful for a brief time so Sickle doesn’t need to be sustained.

LAS-12 Tanto

Description:

  • In exchange for a shorter range, Scythe has a higher DPS. Tanto is a better Scythe, with a faster turn speed and higher DPS. (Scythes and Tanto have identical heat production and heat cooling rates). Tanto is a small sword or dagger that is used in Japan by samurais.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are easily defeated by Tanto’s single target and normal crowd control. Tanto is capable of taking down medium-sized enemies quickly, but you should be cautious when trying to take out hordes of them. A shorter range means that you will need to be closer to the enemy and in a more hazardous combat position than other Laser guns.
  • Excellent Single Target and Normal Crowd Control for Bugs. Similar to Cyborgs but be more cautious when dealing with Brood Commanders
  • Excellent Single Target and Normal Crowd Control for Illuminates Take care when taking down Illusionists/Council members as their orbs could one-shot you or knock you out.

LAS-13 Trident

Description:

  • It is a decent weapon with high DPS, like Sickle. Trident Laser weapon is the most unique because it is extremely expensive to upgrade. It also has a shorter delay after firing to cool off and a slower cooldown time. Many pros consider Trident a meta weapon. The beams are low-off-center damage and encourage people to spread it.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. Good.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. Good.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates Good.

ARC

AC-3 Arc Tosser

Description:

  • This weapon is powerful if used correctly. SH-20 can help AC-3 or AC-5 users stand taller and charge up their shot better. AC-3’s ability to link depends on how much energy was available before you release the fire button. The longer you hold the fire button, AC-3 will connect more “nodes”. “Nodes” don’t reduce your damage.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are not immune to Good Crowd Control and Normal Single Target. Because Legionnaire’s shield is up front, they won’t take AC damage. ARC damage will always be the front hit.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. You lose speed when you charge the shot. Bugs are quick so it is important to align yourself with your team in order to protect the shot while charging.
  • Normal single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. Because enemies can start getting their shields back on after you have charged up, full charging is not advised. Instead, either use a brief burst to cause damage to them, or ask your teammates to do so while you charge up.

AC-5 Arc Shotgun

Description:

  • Similar to AC-3, but the shotgun version performs quite differently. AC-5 uses enemies and helldivers instead of “nodes”, to create a string electric current. It also shoots wide electricity that ignores terrain, according to Wikipedia. This is because it has a fixed range and does not extend beyond “nodes”. AC-5 charges up much faster than AC-3, but does less damage and can still be used to kill medium-sized enemies. You will have an easier time in close combat with any shield backpack or defensive perk.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. AC-3 has the same problem as AC-3. Legionnaire can’t be properly killed and you can’t increase your range by “nodes”. This means that you must stay within the reach of dangerous enemies.
  • Bugs can be controlled by both single target and good crowd control. Due to the charge time + range and difficulty killing Shadows/Stalkers, you will need to have support to kill Brood Commanders.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates Quite good against most enemies in Illuminates.

Saber

It is a Proving Ground (PG) weapon that you can only use in close and personal conditions

It’s basically a bayonet with punch melee speed.

Honorable Mention: Grenades

Standard Grenades

No Selection Image

Description:

  • All helldivers’ default grenade. It deals good damage to the enemies and helldivers around it.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are a good single target and can be controlled well by crowds. Thrown to kill Legionnaires. Not so effective against Butchers. Can also be used to damage Warlords and eventually kill them (as support fire).
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. To kill one Brood Commander immediately, you can either use two grenades or spread them to deal more damage to the rest of the horde.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. These grenades can take care of Tripods/Striders/Outcasts easily and can be thrown before reloading your gun to destroy upcoming orb from Illusionists/Council Members.

Stun Grenades

Description:

  • You will need a perk slot to swap your grenade for the Stun version. Stun Mines have a radius slightly larger than the Stun Grenades. Anything that isn’t IFVs or Shield Protected can be affected by Stun. Deal no damage at all. It is advised to only throw one grenade at once, as stun time doesn’t stack.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. It can stun any object while you are down. You can also stop a horde Of Butchers using just 1 grenade.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. It can be used to stun a running Behemoth/Tank (if it is timed correctly) and to stun an entire pack of Brood Commanders.
  • Bad Single Target and Poor Crowd Control against Illuminates. Lmao, Illuminates robots are immune against stun. Illusionists/Council members also have shields that are immune, so you can bring a Fire grenade, Default Grenade, or other weapon to deal damage.

Smoke Grenades

Also Read

Description:

  • Smoke Grenades inflict zero damage on everything. This is similar to Thunderer Smoke Rounds, but with a smaller radius.

Summary:

  • Bad Crowd Control and Single Target Attacks against Cyborgs. Ranged will attempt to get to the target if they are too close to you or in the smoke.
  • Bad single target and poor crowd control against bugs. If there’s smoke between you (or the tank), they won’t attempt to run over you.
  • Bad Single Target and Bad Crowd Control Against Illuminates Hunters won’t try to shoot through the smoke.

Incendiary/Fire Grenades

Description:

  • Fire Grenades are a pocket version for Hellfire Incendiary Bombs. They create a smaller fire puddle and ignite any enemies/helldivers nearby. The fire puddles are often avoided by enemies.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are not controlled by Good Crowd Control or Normal Single Target. This can be used to alter the path of Butchers
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. It can also ignite nearby bugs.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. Their Tripods/Striders shields will be disabled by the explosion damage and a burn effect is applied to them.

Honorable Mention: Heavy Weapons

Some of these weapons were already discussed in my

. Now, I will concentrate on the rest.

MG94 Machine Gun

Description:

  • This is the first heavy weapon strategy you can use. The MG-94 machine gun is the most dangerous version used in vehicles. It has a 50% higher fire rate than its mounted counterpart.

Summary:

  • Cyborgs are a good single target and crowd control. A decent Hulk/Butcher destroyer.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. It is effective against Pack of Brood commanders and can be used as a primary weapon.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. Good DPS can handle a pack of Tripods/Striders/Outcasts easily.

MGX42 Machine Gun

Description:

  • This is the upgraded version of MG-94. You have 300 (400 after upgrading) MGX-42 round instead of 150 (250 après upgrading) MG-94. It also has a faster fire rate. You can’t move while you fire MGX-42 rounds and you have 120 reload time (stratagem cooling down time). To make the gun more useful, you can use multiple MGX42 stratagems and Stratagem Priority perks.

Summary:

  • Good single target and good crowd control against Cyborgs. Melt Hulks/Butchers even more quickly.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against bugs. MGX-42 is faster than MG-94 at melting Patrols and Brood Commanders.
  • Good single target and good crowd control against Illuminates. You can melt everything faster.

REP-80

Description:

  • You are now the team’s medic when you pick up this gun. Your primary job is not to shoot anymore. It’s now your responsibility to heal your fellow teammates.

Summary:

  • There is no single target and no crowd control against Cyborgs. When your teammates are far away from a Warlord’s headquarters, heal them, then let them move a little, and heal when your team is fighting Berserkers/Butchers.
  • There is no single target and no crowd control against bugs. Your team should always be healed, except if they are in close proximity to the Impaler’s tentacle. Let them crawl away and then heal them.
  • Illuminates are not a single target and there is no crowd control. If there are no orbs flying towards them, heal your fellow teammates.

ME-1 Sniffer Metal Detector

Description:

  • It is used primarily to find unexploded ordnance and to smack other things. It is possible to have a bug that causes you to hold the Sniffer as a gun, and this will impact your metal finding abilities.

Notes:

  • This guide is based solely on my own experience. It does not reflect any other existing weapon guides on Steam.

I need feedback:

Since I am a relatively new player, I take the information from the Wiki and combine it with my knowledge of the game to create this guide. I haven’t touched guns for a while so I may get something wrong.
