Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen quite a bit of Modern Warfare 2. was the reveal trailer. was a longer gameplay demonstration. You may have noticed a lack of multiplayer news if you’ve been following Call of Duty news for a while.
Call of Duty trailers often end with a multiplayer tease. This could be news of a real multiplayer reveal event or confirmation of an alpha/beta testing. Modern Warfare 2 did not appear to be interested in sharing such information.
We may be able to find out thanks to Amazon, a giant retailer (via VGC). Modern Warfare 2 can be pre-ordered on Amazon. This will give you early access to beta – which has now become the norm. These product listings also indicate that the pre-order bonus will not be valid until August 15.
Customers will also receive keys at this time, which strongly indicates that beta testing is about to begin. This message is repeated across all versions of the game.
The store listings confirm that the beta will begin first on PlayStation platforms. This is something we also expected but was not revealed in official material.
Modern Warfare 2’s leaked trailer revealed that there were five days of early access on PlayStation consoles. However, this slide was not included in the official version. It ended up appearing later that day.
