The Ubisoft+ subscription service may soon launch on Xbox

The logo of the service was discovered by @ALumia_Italia, an account that scrapes the Xbox backend.

The service was revealed to be available on Xbox in January, however, this could mean that Ubisoft will launch its PC-only service on Xbox in the near future.

Originally launched for PC as Uplay+ in September 2019, Ubisoft+ offers access to over 100 Ubisoft titles, including new games and DLC at launch, for $14.99 / PS12.99 / EUR14.99 per month.

For $17.99 or PS14.99 or EUR17.99, each month users have access to Ubisoft+ on the cloud gaming platforms Stadia as well as PC.

“We will offer the Ubisoft+ subscription service to Xbox owners so that they can enjoy the full extent of our Ubisoft+ game library, including new releases, on their consoles,” said Chris Early, Ubisoft’s senior director of business development and strategic partnerships at the moment when the news was announced.

Ubisoft currently offers a large selection of classic titles as part of certain tiers of PlayStation Plus. It’s not clear if Ubisoft Plus could be included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in the same manner as EA Play is.

The issue is that EA Play also offers an exclusive PC tier that gives customers new, fully-priced games during the course of the subscription. It’s not available for consoles as of yet.

There’s no confirmation on whether Ubisoft + will be available on PlayStation.

The news broke earlier in the month Tencent is believed to be looking to acquire a bigger portion of Ubisoft.

In the words of Reuters, China’s biggest gaming corporation is currently holding 5 percent of Assassin’s creed publisher, and is in the process of acquiring an increase in the shareholding of the company. It has “reached out to the French firm’s founding Guillemot family and expressed interest in increasing its stake in the firm”.

Then, Reuters notes that it’s not clear how much is owned by the business Tencent wishes to purchase. Ubisoft has a current value of $5.3 billion.
