Dark Souls 3’s PC servers have been brought back online after 7 months

Dark Souls 3’s PC servers have finally been restored up and running, just seven months after having been shut down due to a grave security problem.

The PvP servers for desktop versions of Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls 2, and Dark Souls 3 were shut down in January after an investigation into a grave security vulnerability that allowed remote execution of code that was believed to permit players to gain control over the computers of other players.

Then, in May Bandai Namco announced plans to restart the servers but did not provide a timeframe for when it could happen.

Online features in Dark Souls III’s PC edition of Dark Souls III have been activated,” reads an announcement posted by Twitter’s Dark Souls Twitter account on Thursday.

“We are currently working on restoring these features to all of the different Dark Souls titles and will notify you when they’re restored to service.

“Thank you once more for your patience and support.”

In the last month, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Tekken publisher Bandai Namco confirmed claims that its servers were been compromised and that confidential information was accessed.

In the aftermath of the ransomware attacks, the company stated that it was examining the severity of leaks that could contain customers’ information. It was also increasing its security measures to avoid repetition.
