Apex Legends ‘distress transmission’ teases next character

A video of Apex Legends’ distress transmission hints at Vantage, the next battle royale character. He is expected to become the Hunted legend in season 14.

Respawn Entertainment posted a teaser video hinting that the next character will be joining the battle royale game in August after its recent Apex Legends 14 slip-up. Two characters have a conversation about distress signals, which may point to the location a wanted prisoner.

The teaser was posted to the Apex Legends twitter account along with its official Discord channel. It has the headline Distress transmission …” and shows a computer screen flashing in sound waves while two characters speak over a relay.

The first voice, who uses the codename “IJV5301” to identify themselves, opens a link with a space authority. They tell them they have obtained a distress signal, and are willing to pay the correct price. The other voice interrupts and demands that they “relay” the signal or face severe penalties.

The following transmission is broadcast over the airwaves. One survivor: prisoner …” At this point, the authority speaker cut off the recording and said “We’ll take care of it from there” before disconnecting from the call. With a sad sigh, the initial speaker ponders: “PrisonerT-0323, huh?” They are a horrible thing to be

Although the tease is vague, most fans will be able to identify the word ‘Vantage.’ This is the name of the character that is expected to be the multiplayer’s new 14-year-old legend. The preview of Vantage’s appearance was already available in the game’s client. This now adds to the speculations.

Many fans have commented that the second voice in this teaser sounds a lot like Roger Craig Smith, Mirage actor. This doesn’t necessarily mean Mirage is the character in this video. The way the voice speaks is quite different and Respawn has used its main voice to cast minor supporting roles in past.

Although it’s not clear if Vantage is the first voice that we hear, the “hate them” phrase would suggest that the distress beacon is coming directly from the new legend. Vantage will be able to track and would look like a bounty hunter, which would make him a good choice for the “Hunted” name, which is the title of the next Apex Legends series.

A pro player was recently praised by the community for refusing to shoot another competitor during a tournament match. It appears that an single-player Apex Legends FPS game has been developed.
