Hollow Knight: Silksong gets a new gameplay trailer, but still no release date

The sequel to Hornet’s Hollow Knight is available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC.

Team Cherry’s long-awaited Hollow Knight successor, Hollow Knight Silksong came out of hiding at Microsoft’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on Sunday. The developer demonstrated Silksong in extended gameplay and confirmed that Game Pass will be available on day one. The studio did not give a release date for this highly anticipated, but very delayed 2D platforming action title.

Later, however, Sarah Bond, Xbox corporate vice president Sarah Bond, stated that the games displayed at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase would be released within 12 months.

Hollow Knight is the sequel to 2017’s Hollow Knight. This beloved Dark Souls-inspired Metroidvania, filled with bugs, is now Hollow Knight . Silksong introduces Hornet, a new protagonist who was both friend and foe of the Knight in the original game. Hollow Knight allows players to take control of her and navigate a new world using new powers.

Team Cherry’s initial announcement stated that the developer intended silksong as add-on content to the original Hollow Knight. However, the project grew in size. The developer stated that Hornet’s adventure was planned to take place in a new country almost from the beginning. However, the project grew too large and unique to remain a DLC.

In 2017, the Hollow Knight original was released for Windows PC. Team Cherry brought the game later to Linux, Mac and Nintendo Switch.

Hollow Knight was initially crowdfunded via Kickstarter. Hollow Knight will be given to all players who supported the fundraising campaign.
