Zhonya’s Hourglass the most sought-after item for mage players within League of Legends is getting some exciting adjustments.
League of Legends is a game that is constantly changing its meta. If a player or game mechanic is found to be under or overperforming the team of developers at Riot is quick to release an update to fix the issue. Sometimes, these changes are just to play around with the meta, simply to observe what happens. Certain modifications are being made to Zhoyna’s Hourglass and the potential effects of these changes are fascinating.
Zhonya’s is one item every mage (and certain non-magicians) can find a place in their build However, it’s not because of its statistics. The appeal of Zhonya’s item is due to its amazing ability. If you’re not aware that Zhonya’s Hourglass has an ability active that renders your character invulnerable for a short period of time, which prevents you from taking any harm or moving during the time.
It is often paired with champions who have massive damage or time abilities (such as Mordekaiser) the item is in widespread use across the entire League roster. It would appear that Riot is looking to boost this popular item due to its popularity.
It’s unfortunate that the item was solely purchased to boost its active capability is a huge cost for Riot. The riot team and they’re boosting the weak statistics of the item in order to make it more comparable to other items on the same level.
Zhonya’s will be getting an AP boost (from 65-80) and more haste for ability (10 15) which will make it a much more powerful item.
To make up for these adjustments Zhonya’s will have its price increase between 2700 and 3000 dollars, shifting its status from an inexpensive purchase to something you’ll need to budget to pay.
The modifications make the item more powerful item, however, the price increase could result in some players finding themselves taking it off their build paths. We’ll need to wait and determine what impact these modifications have on the meta.
