Xbox Game Studios has announced a November 15, 2022 release date for Obsidian’s Pentiment.
The game will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows 10/11, and Steam priced at $19.99 for $19.99 or PS14.99. It will also be released on the day of release along with Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
The announcement was made in the month of June, Pentiment is a murder mystery game created by a small group of developers headed by Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity director Josh Sawyer, who was also the design director on The Outer Worlds.
“Explore history in the modern time through the style of illuminated manuscripts and early modern woodcuts,” Mikey Dowling Obsidian’s director for communications told on the Xbox Wire post that revealed the game’s date of release.
“Pentiment is a story-based adventure game that takes place in the 16th century in Upper Bavaria in the era that was the Holy Roman Empire. The player will play the character of Andreas Maler, a very talented artist who becomes involved in a series of murders and scandals which lasts for twenty-five years within the fictional city of Tasting in the vicinity of Kiersau Abbey.
“It is your decision to make Andreas his choices, ranging from his education and his lifestyle to the method he uses to investigate the murders that occur within his reach.
From getting into the abbey library late at night to glance at hidden documents, or playing a game of traditional tavern game to gather details from those playing and it’s your responsibility to decide how you will use the time you have to find the suspects.
“Every decision and accusation Andreas makes carries consequences that will impact the tightly-knit Alpine community for generations to come.”
Orders to pre-order Pentiment’s game are now open today, and pre-installs are accessible through Game Pass.
Microsoft said in June that it was “on course” to publish at least five games from the first party within the next year..
Starfield and Redfall will be released exclusively for Xbox Series X/S and PC in the first quarter of 2023..
